EETECH AWARDED $140,000 GRANT FROM UNITED STATES ARMY'S MEDICAL RESEARCH AND MATERIEL COMMAND

Seattle, WA (August 4th, 2010) – Empowering Engineering Technologies, Corp.TM(EETech) has received a $140,000 Hypothesis Development Award from the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program’s Peer-Reviewed Orthopedic Research Program to fund development and testing of EETech’s flagship ExoWalkTM product. This award will be
administered by the United States Army’s Medical Research and Materiel Command. Brian Glaister, EETech’s President and CEO, is the Principal Investigator for this research project.

Titled, “An ExoTendonTM Orthosis to Improve Mobility for Military Personnel Recovering from Combat-Related Injuries,” this award provides 15 months of funding for further development and testing of a passive lower limb assistive device called ExoWalk that assists muscle force generation. Inspired by horse anatomy where long tendons produce a highly efficient gait,

ExoWalk uses long ExoTendons to improve walking efficiency for humans. By assisting muscular force generation and improving walking efficiency, ExoWalk could provide dramatic improvements in mobility and quality of life to soldiers recovering from traumatic brain injury as well as civilians and veterans dealing with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, stroke, and a host of other conditions. This grant
also includes a sub-award to the Cleveland Clinic to investigate the performance of ExoWalk with human subjects.

“We’re very excited that the Army has decided to fund this promising work,” stated Mr. Glaister. “This award will go a long way towards readying ExoWalk for commercial launch.”
